| How they Love to RUN! | ||
Raisin River RR Club of Michigan, held their first AKC all breed Trial in April 2007, on the Grounds of Sulawesi. This is our back 12 acres that has multiple large rises which makes for a challenging course to plan and for the dogs to RUN!
Trials are open to all AKC registered sighthounds of the following breeds, Afghans, Basengi, Borzoi, Scottish Deerhound, Greyhound, Ibizian, Irish Wolfhound, Pharaoh Hound, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Saluki, and Whippet.
Up to three dogs are run together wearing colored blankets so the judges can easily distinguish them apart. The colors are always Yellow, Pink, and Blue. Dogs are judged against the 'ideal' run for that specific breed and in the following 5 categories, Speed, Endurance, Agility, Enthusiasm, and Follow. Follow refers to how well the dog adheres to the pattern, meaning they are chasing after the lure, but have not anticipated and cut corners.
Very enthusiastic runners can be very hard to hold at the line ... this is Chastity and she screams and hollers the entire time she's waiting to run.
You can see what is the double suspension gallop in the contraction and the extension ...
