Bandia is doing very
well. She loves going with me to work and spending time with the
kids at the studio. She is quick to learn, and quick to figure
things out. We are getting ready to start puppy agility with her,
and are very excited that she will start showing next month.
Every evening, I sit on
the floor and let the dogs take turns getting some loving. She,
being the youngest, is last, and usually takes the longest.
The other night, we were on
the floor cuddling, and I said to her,
"Oh, My Little Bandia Baby, one day you are
going to be a champion just like Brogan. You are going to be the
prettiest bitch at the ball..."
"I don't want to be a
show dog,
Mama,"
she interrupted, sitting up with her forehead wrinkled and her eyes
wide.
"Oh?"
I said, though I must admit, I was not surprised.
"Well, what do you want to be when you
grow up?"She snuggled back down with me sweetly whispering, "Dictator." |

Hi Liz: I just wanted to let you know that Maya is doing very well! She absolutely loves her big brother, follows him everywhere she goes, and attempts to cuddle with him every chance she gets. She has made a lovely addition to our family. :) Thanks, Steve & Danielle (Maya had her dermoid removed at 8 weeks old, and obviously she's doing Great! Her big brother is Shona, a Ridgeless Male ... ) |

Hi Liz and Chris ... I thought I'd send you an update on Kizzy and send a couple pictures. She's been doing great in all areas! She's pretty solidly house broken (at least at our house) She rings the bells on our door handle whenever she needs to go outside, and has been for well over a week. We gave her straw to go on outside because she really hated walking on snow. Consequently, when she's at someone else's house she holds it rather than walk through the snow to go. (She will however walk in the snow with me to the barn and back). Crating came fairly easily. As Chris suggested, we put her next to our bed at night, when we 1st brought her home, and tapped the carrier when she whined. This lasted a few nights and then she started sleeping from about 10-10:30 p.m. until 5:30a.m. She now sleeps in a larger crate in our office and is quite content. Last night she slept until 7a.m. Crating when leaving for work was a little more heart wrenching. But now she often puts herself to bed during the day and has gotten used to having the gate closed when we eat dinner or just need to confine her for awhile Kizzy sits, lays and stays on command. She also settles w/o restraint. She's curious and brave and very sweet (and sometimes a little terror, of course). We've had lots of company and she's been introduced to all kinds of people, a few dogs and our barn cat. We take her with us wherever we can. We've come to the realization that there aren't a lot of indoor places you can take a dog to get her used to foot and vehicle traffic. We can't wait for the warmer weather when we can take her outside more and get her used to traffic and other worldly noises. Jeannie |
